On 18 November 1727, Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II laid the foundation of a new capital on the plains below Amber. In less than three weeks, Jaipur starts its 300th year, and the world has noticed.
On 20 October 2026, National Geographic named Jaipur in its Best of the World 2027 list, an editorial pick of 25 destinations across six continents. Its reason was simple: the Pink City "celebrates the 300th anniversary of its founding in 2027." The magazine called Jaipur a city that "wraps centuries of history and cultural tradition into one luminous metropolis," and told readers that November to March is the best time to go (National Geographic, 20 October 2026).
At home, the build-up has begun. On 25 October, Deputy Chief Minister and Tourism Minister Diya Kumari released the poster for the "Gulabi Nagri Jaipur 300 Varsh: Hamara Gaurav, Hamari Virasat" campaign at City Palace. The Jaipur Vyapar Mahasangh will put up 14 campaign posters across the markets and plans cultural, social and business events right through 2027 (Dainik Navajyoti, 25 October 2026).
For anyone who rents out a home in Jaipur, this is not just a birthday. It is a 14-month marketing campaign that the state, the traders and one of the world's best-known travel brands are running for you, free.
